Photobucket Misanthrope. Sweetie Pie. I complain a lot, because there's a lot to complain about. I laugh a lot. I am just your run of the mill NYC asshole with lots of sass and a nice ass. This tumblr thingy is an attempt to let society into my mental ghetto and to share my daily irritations, inspirations, and investigations....

What is the perfect "first date"?

As a serial dater in my early NYC years, I went on many a first date.  I usually let the guy choose since it was him asking me out and without fail they almost always chose dinner.

I think a first date over a meal is a terrible idea.  For one, if they take you to a restaurant you arent really fond of, you appear to be high maintenance.  If the conversation is bad, there arent many other distractions and you are pretty much stuck in that bad situation for an hour or more.  Then of course, there’s always that talking with food in your mouth thing.

Movies are also a bad idea.  There’s no chance to talk and then after the movie the back and forth banter pretty much just consists of what each other thought of the flick.  Frankly, I dont judge a person’s character by what they thought of the summer blockbuster.  Unless of course it was Transformers and they liked it.  (yeah, I briefly dated someone who thought that was a good movie and yeah, he’s a loser)

Getting wasted at the bar is always a bad idea.  Anyone can seem interesting when I’ve had a few Jamesons in me.  I dont want to end up going home with some turd who on a sober day I wouldnt give a second glance.  Many a mistake have occurred while practicing this disastrous dating ritual.

So we are left with not too many things to do (or so it seems to the unimaginative).  I can honestly say the best date I have ever had was when I just walked around the city all night with someone.  Talking, pointing and laughing at the weird and retarded.  It was different, and refreshing.

Lately I’ve tried to take advantage of all the great, free NYC stuff rather than opting to spend my nights in a bar.  I’ve enjoyed walks with friends, Coney Island, and the park.  I wish more people were willing to enjoy these types of things but surprisingly, it’s quite hard to get anyone to do something that doesnt involve alcohol.  Granted, I still enjoy getting tanked (that’s for sure), but I urge those reading to try something a bit off beat.  It may work out well for you.

Kiss Kiss,

AntiKris
