University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student Adam Bauer has nearly 400 friends on Facebook. He got an offer for a new one about a month ago. “She was a good-looking girl. I usually don’t accept friends I don’t know, but I randomly accepted this one for some reason,” the 19-year-old said.

He thinks that led to his invitation to come down to the La Crosse police station, where an officer laid out photos from Facebook of Bauer holding a beer — and then ticketed him for underage drinking.

The police report said Bauer admitted drinking, which he denies. But he did plead no contest in municipal court Wednesday and will pay a $227 fine.

He was among at least eight people who said Wednesday they had been cited for underage drinking based on photos on social networking sites.

but once you put that shit out there on the internet, you’re asking for people to give their opinions. trolls, haters, fuck - i’ll admit it, i think this is tacky as fuck. i also think it sucks that something so special is putting itself in a position to have tomatoes thrown at it.

hell, i know i’m an oversharer and i’ve said this before, but there are things that are intimate, personal, private that two people share. asking your partner if they want to share the rest of their life with you is a big deal. that moment, doing it via tumblr, is so fucking tacky to me.

blogging about it in detail, taking pictures, video, and posting …thats different …youre telling a story ….you can edit it …you can still keep some parts private (i mean, im sure this is how old people feel about overshary bloggers - im not saying im right, im just saying its how i feel) its not being in the moment. i mean, this guy has forever lost the opportunity to SAY THE FUCKING WORDS WITH HIS MOUTH WHILE LOOKING INTO HER EYES LIKE A MAN. whats next, using Skype to say your vows?
